Statistical analysis of distribution transformer data in China in 2020

Power transformer is one of the important equipment in power transmission and distribution system. According to the statistical data of the Ministry of industry and information technology of China, by the end of 2020, The total number of transformers operating in China’s power grid is about 17 million (equivalent to 1.2 sets / 100 people), with a total capacity of 11 billion kVA (equivalent to 7.8kva per capita), with an average single unit capacity of 630kVA. Since the transformer loss accounts for about 40% of the power loss of transmission and distribution, it has great energy-saving potential. According to the 20-year replacement cycle, 850000 sets need to be replaced in China every year. According to the 500 KVA copper transformer ¥ 35000 / set, the annual output value is RMB 29.75 billion (excluding the annual new capacity)

In the first half of 2020, China’s transformer output was 741 million KVA, a year-on-year decrease of 5.52%. According to the calculation of 500 KVA per transformer, 1.48 million transformers were added in the first half of the year. According to the calculation of 500 KVA transformer ¥ 35000 / set, it was 51.8 billion yuan, equivalent to 103.6 billion yuan in the whole year. The export accounted for 30% and 31.08 billion yuan.
